Resident in British Virgin Islands since 2021, Rey Escobar formed and directed the band The Smuggling Suitcase, with some of the most talented musicians in B.V.I like Deci Tavernier (Dominica), Brandon Powell, Andre Braithwaite, Anthony Shortte (B.V.I), Ruben Fernandez, Eugenio "El Niño" Alvarez (Dominican Rep.). Their music is a mix of Latin roots with Caribbean, Jazz & Blues rhythms.

As Director of The Artists Club Caribe and Partner of International Jazz Day Org. / Herbie Hancock Jazz Institute, he brought International Jazz Day Celebration to B.V.I for the first time ever in 2022 with the sponsorship of Resewood Little Dix Bay Resort.
