International Jazz Day BVI

International Jazz Day is an International Day declared by the UNESCO in 2011 to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role in promoting peace, dialogue, and human rights. It recognizes the music's power to unite people, foster understanding between cultures, and empower communities through its promotion of freedom of expression, diversity, and gender equality.

Since 2019, Rey Escobar is Parthner of International Jazz Day Org. / Herbie Hancock Jazz Institute, becoming the Director of International Jazz Day BVI. He have been organizing Specialized in Afrocuban Jazz & Latin Jazz. He has been organising the celebration in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and British Virgin Islands, conducting concerts, jazz clinics, workshops, and didactic concerts; working closely with locals musicians, sponsors, and patrons.

BVI International Jazz Day 2022

As Partner of International Jazz Day Org /Herbie Hancock Jazz Institute, Rey Escobar brought to British Virgin Islands this international celebration for the first time ever. His roll as producer, music director and coordinator, was crucial to involve some of the most talented musicians of the territory. During the event, Jazz Harmony and improvisación workshops were given to ESHS music students, with concerts at Rosewwod Little Dix Bay (Virgin Gorda) and Eileene Parsons Auditorium (Tortola).
